Teeth Bleaching | Zoom Whitening

                                                      http://www.flickr.com/photos/

The goal of cosmetic dentistry is to improve the function, appearance and health of the patient's teeth and its surrounding structures. One procedure which improves the appearance of the teeth is teeth whitening.
Teeth  Whitening procedure is where the dentist will remove dental stains or discolorations by bleaching and laser tooth whitening. Zoom tooth whitening uses bleaching to remove discoloration.
Zoom Tooth whitening is a procedure done in the dental clinic to eliminate or minimize tooth discoloration. It became popular all over the world specially in the United States .The teeth whitening costs from $400 to $900.And whitening cost can still go up if there is a need for dental fillings and oral prophylaxis.                                                                                                                 First the dentist will do an oral examination to the patient.Any cavities especially found on labial surfaces of the teeth needs to be filled if not permanently then at least temporarily.Oral prophylaxis is needed if there are tartar or calculus.Polishing of the teeth removes plaques not removed during tooth brushing. This will make the zoom tooth whitener more effective. The zoom whitening gel is applied only to the tooth surfaces.Once exposed to the zoom light,it is activated to start the zoom whitening procedure. The teeth whitening procedure may last from 45 minutes to 1 hour depending on the degree of tooth discoloration. The patient is informed not to eat or drink food that could stain the teeth.Like tomato sauce, red wine, tea, coffee and to avoid smoking for at least 2 hours. The zoom whitening procedure may need to be repeated after 4 to 6 months depending on the recurrence of the stains.A Zoom whitening kit could be used by the patient at home like the Night White  ACP Zoom kit.It is a home maintenance kit.
Tooth sensitivity is a common problem after zoom tooth whitening. The use of fluoride like Fluoridex Daily Defense 2 X a day 2 weeks before the procedure helps prevent tooth sensitivity. The fluoride application can be continued even after the teeth bleaching.Sometimes old composite fillings may need to be replaced using a shade similar to the new lighter shade of the newly bleached teeth. This is usually done 2 weeks after the zoom tooth whitening.Stinging pain on the gums are due to leak of bleaching gel to the soft tissue. This is avoided by using the zoom liquidam properly.
If you read some of the zoom tooth whitening reviews, there are people who were satisfied while others were unhappy. It is because zoom tooth whitening is more effective in eliminating yellow and brown discolorations but only to a certain degree for grayish discolorations. An informed patient at the very start will  have realistic expectations about the outcome of the procedure therefor avoiding disappointments.

10 Tips to Avoid Bad Breath

          News About Bad Breath

Food, dental problems responsible for bad breath

Bad breath (halitosis) can be embarrassing and may cause anxiety. It’s no wonder store shelves are overflowing with gum, mints, mouthwashes and other products designed to combat this condition. But many of these products are mere temporary measures.
Certain foods, health conditions and habits are among the causes of bad breath. In many cases, you can improve bad breath with proper dental hygiene. If simple self-care techniques don’t solve the problem, you may want to see your dentist or doctor to be sure a more serious condition isn’t causing your bad breath.
             http://thenationonlineng.net/web3/health/30104.html

Halitosis or bad breath can affect any one not mindful of their oral hygiene. Some systemic diseases could also cause bad breath. But before we deal with the systemic causes, first we should think of any problem in the mouth. Here are some of the things we should look into and be aware of:

1 .Visit your dentist every 6 months for oral prophylaxis. If you smoke,go every 4 months o remove calculus or tartar and dental stains from tooth surfaces.

2.  Dental cavities should be filled to avoid food traps where food particles will ferment causing bad breath.

3. Avoid smoking for obvious reasons.

4. Avoid certain foods such as garlic, onion, banana, coffee etc. before a date. They do give bad breath if eaten in excess.

5. Brush your teeth regularly preferably every after  meals.Food in the mouth starts to ferment 5 minutes after ingested.Brush the surface of your tongue and roof of the mouth. If you are wearing dentures, this should be removed and brushed separately. If dental brackets are in placed, use special brushes designed to clean the brackets well.Be motivated enough to clean those brackets other wise the orthodontic treatment will be compromised.

6. Floss your teeth after brushing.Food particles left in between the teeth are not easily reach by the toothbrush bristles and flossing will clean these areas well.

7. Use mouthwash with out alcohol only as adjunct to tooth brushing and flossing.

8.Oral pathology like gingivitis and periodontal diseases should be treated by your dentist.

9. Eat more of fruits and vegetables for more fibers encouraging regular bowel movement. They also contribute to the over all health of tissues

 10. Drink plenty of water.Water will flush out waste.

What could cause bad breath if after doing all those mentioned above and one's breath is still bad?It could be due to some systemic diseases like diabetes.Diabetics have acetone breath specially uncontrolled. Saliva cleanses the oral cavity so a decrease in salivary flow affects the oral tissues. Diabetics could have decreased salivary flow causing dry mouth. Some drugs could also cause decreased salivary flow.Dry mouth could lead to bad breath.Respiratory tract infections could cause bad breath too.
If you've visited your dentist, observed good oral hygiene and you do still have bad breath, you are advised to consult your physician to rule out any systemic disease.
