  Bruxism is simply teeth grinding.It could be during times of stress when one is awake or when one is asleep.Grinding one's teeth during sleep causes more damage to the teeth.Clenching of the muscles repeatedly could cause muscular pain and head ache.In bruxism,the muscles of the upper and lower jaws are affected.The nocturnal gnashing of teeth causes attrition of the enamel,which is the hardest part of the tooth.This causes tooth sensitivity.If bruxism is not corrected then the attrtion of tooth surfaces could lead to pulp exposure and later death of the pulp.Bruxism do not only cause damage to the tooth but also can lead to temporo mandibular joint pain.
    Learning to manage stress would help prevent bruxism.Consult your dentist.Oral splints could be fabricated for you to minimize the damage to your teeth.This oral splints are worn at night.The time when a bruxist do most damage to one's teeth.Dental attrtion usually presents ragged edges causing irritation to the tongue.If present in anterior teeth,it is unesthetic and could become very sensitive.These therefor needs to be restored   to stop further damage  and for cosmetic reasons.
